Hazelwood View is a 26-unit residential development on a steeply sloping site on the outskirts of Hastings. BdR were commissioned to design the foul and surface water drainage, design the foundations and undertake a site wide level design. BdR undertook a thorough value engineering exercise, eliminating the need for retaining walls across the majority of the site, rationalising the road layout and the surface water attenuation to save the client over £150,000 in construction costs.
BdR were commissioned by Stuart Lyons Haulage Ltd in early 2017 to prepare the civil engineering design for a new concrete paved lorry parking facility, approximately 6000 sqm in area. The lorry park was designed to cater for up to 40 OGV2 articulated lorries per day, so a robust solution was of utmost importance. With a large impermeable area, restricting peak storm run-off rates to those calculated for the site prior to development, required a large volume of surface water storage. Our innovative design solutions for both the drainage and pavement design saved our client over £100,000.
